Vocational Training
Many of the young people we work with have missed the early years of their education while living on the streets. Some left school in the first few years of primary education, and others have never attended school at all. Because of this, teenagers can find it difficult to return to formal schooling, often feeling out of place as they are older than their classmates.

To support these young people to build practical skills and plan for their futures, we run vocational training programmes at our Rehabilitation Centre.
In March 2024, we launched a Vocational Skills Pilot Project providing practical tailoring training for young people aged 14–18 who have lived or worked on the streets. The programme allows young people to learn a hands-on skill in a supportive environment while continuing to receive the rehabilitation, education and life skills support they need.

The pilot had encouraging results, with improved resettlement success and strong progress among the young people who completed the programme. As a result, the training is now delivered each year, with at least 40 young people taking part annually.
Over time, we hope to expand the programme to include additional vocational skills, helping more young people develop the practical abilities and confidence they need to build independent and stable futures.
