Festivities, fun and looking forward

2024 has been a very busy year for S.A.L.V.E. and we have lots to celebrate. In this year we have:

📚 Helped over 130 children go to school

📈 Supported families of 26 children to become financially stable through our Advanced Business Training, so that they can now pay for their children’s school fees themselves

🎓 Started a new programme teaching young people tailoring skills at our residential site to give children who were once on the streets the opportunity to learn a trade

👣 Launched our #StepupforSALVE fundraising campaign which raised over £12,000

👋 Seen our co-founder Nicola leave as CEO and then re-join as a Board member

and, most recently,

🥳 Thanks to our incredible global family, we beat our Big Give Christmas Challenge target of raising over £20,000 for our addiction support services.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past year as we strive to meet the needs of children on the streets. Thank you for standing by us and helping us to be a lifeline to children when they need us most, to bolster communities and to amplify the voices of children on the streets.

Looking forward to 2025

We are very proud of all that we have achieved with your help, but we know we still have a long way to go to best meet the needs of young people on the streets. We look forward to sharing with you the ways we plan to make ourselves more sustainable, adapt to the needs of the children we work with and also how we will remain a strong, independent NGO but with a very personal connection.

How can you get involved?

Does your workplace choose a charity of a year to fundraise for? Or, if you are based in Uganda, can you offer in-kind donations to support our work with children on the streets? If so we’d love to hear from you. Please contact us on info@salveinternational.org.

Alternatively, could you give street connected children the chance to get back to school through our Education Fund? We have lots of children who need support to return to education and we would love to hear from you if you could donate anything from £5 or more a month towards this cause.

One key way we have been asking people to help recently via our social media platforms was to help fundraise for our Christmas parties at our Drop in Centres and Residential site. These parties have now happened, but your donations are still welcome via this link and any donations made now will be used to buy gifts for children who were unable to attend our parties so that we can continue to spread some Christmas cheer.

Festive greetings

For anyone who didn’t see this on our socials, our team wanted to spread the festive spirit by singing for you! We hope you all had the most wonderful Christmas and wish you all a very happy New Year.

Thank you for all of your support in 2024.

Webale nyo

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and catch up with all that we have achieved, thanks to your support. If you are inspired by our work, please can we encourage you to tell your friends, family and colleagues about us: the more people that hear about the situations facing street connected youth the better.

If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always keen to hear from you.

With optimism and thanks,

Lucas and the whole S.A.L.V.E. team
