#30daysofSALVE

We are launching a campaign called #30daysofSALVE to help showcase our work.

We understand that for many people – who have perhaps never been to Uganda or experienced homelessness – it can be difficult to truly appreciate what life is like for street connected youth in Jinja.

We also appreciate that, even for our most loyal supporters, as S.A.L.V.E. has changed over the years we have added different services, teams, departments and even buildings to help accommodate the needs of the young people on the streets. We have been able to build upon our foundations and we have now expanded to have our own residential rehabilitation site with specialist drug rehabilitation services, two Drop in Centres (one in Masese and one in Jinja city), a permaculture farm, an on-site classroom and teaching capabilities, a community business empowerment programme as well as supporting young people through education.

A picture tells a thousand words

Taking Pictures, Changing Lives Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has a global network of photographers, who document the work of charities across the world. Taking Pictures Changing Lives kindly offered to support S.A.L.V.E. by sending a photographer to capture key elements of our work so that we can bring more of what we do to life for our network.

In July 2024 we were delighted to welcome Bizi, a photographer from Rwanda representing Taking Pictures Changing Lives, to witness our work in Jinja.

Bizi stayed with S.A.L.V.E. for three days and was able to capture different elements of our support – from life on the streets through to care at our residential site and community impact.

#30daysofSALVE

To help showcase the incredible images captured by Bizi and then edited by Adam at Taking Pictures Changing Lives, throughout October and November 2024 we will be running a #30daysofSALVE campaign across all of our social channels.

We hope that this engages both our existing supporters – reminding them of the many different areas of our work – but also shows anyone new to S.A.L.V.E. exactly who we are and what we stand for.

A very big thank you to Bizi (pictured below with our Ugandan Director, Alfred) and Taking Pictures Changing Lives for making this is a possibility.

Any questions? We’d love to hear from you. And please don’t forget to follow our socials on the links below. The campaign will run from 27th October 2024 – 26th November 2024 on:
