We are lucky to have a dedicated Board of both UK and Ugandan Trustees who work together to provide oversight and good governance to the organisation. Now retired, Bill brings with him a wealth of experience from the Careers Service and working with a local council. He has experience of volunteering in a Fair Trade shop, with a local campaign group, in a food bank and is currently an Ambassador for Shared Interest.
Juliet is an experienced social worker and team leader with over ten years of successful work in the fields of community development, human rights based programming and monitoring, evaluation and research gained while working with development organisations together with the Local Government.
Charles is a healthcare professional currently working at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, with additional qualifications in social work and counselling. Charles is passionate about supporting vulnerable communities to improve their health and well-being and preventing gender based violence and child neglect. He previously worked with TASO (The AIDS Support Organisation).
Ernest is a financial professional with over 15 years of comprehensive hands-on experience that he gained working with international NGOs. Ernest has implemented development projects in partnership with multi-donor agencies and has extensive experience working with partners and different stakeholders.
Jolly is a long-serving community-based lawyer who is deeply passionate about Legal Aid and Human Rights especially of children. He is a co-founder of CAEVA (2009) and has been serving as Executive Director since 2015. He is a Legal Advisor to several NGOs. As a lawyer, he uses his legal background to campaign and demonstrate a rights-based approach to development in different dimensions locally and internationally.
Helen is one of the co-founders of S.A.L.V.E. She now supports the charity as a Board member and brings her experience as an editor and Publisher at HarperCollins to the charity.
Peter is Human Resource Professional with 10 years of experience and Honorary Research Fellow with Lal Innovation and Professional Service Research Foundation. He is also a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya (IHRM), Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda and a member of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda. He is currently working as the Head of Human Resources at MHS.
Emmi is a Senior Manager for Operational Excellence and has over 6 years experience at an international development NGO working in Africa. Her roles have included securing and managing institutional grants, working with in-country colleagues on programme delivery and leading on EdTech for low-resource contexts. Emmi also has 7 years' experience working in investment banking.
Now retired, Mike spent over 50 years working in the field of international development as a member of the Department for International Development. He worked in 16 countries and led development offices in six countries including spending seven years working in Uganda leading the UK Government's development effort. He is a Trustee and national treasurer of a UK based charity as well as providing mentoring advice in fields of management and career planning.
